You had your eureka! moment, did all the groundwork and you even built a website, but now what? Your website has been made to promote your products and services, but wait a minute… How do you promote your website?
The more website traffic you get, the better your chances of landing a sale or client! Plus it creates brand awareness.
Win-win-win.
Traffic is every website’s main goal, as every visitor is a potential conversion. Traffic is the unit of measurement of a website, and the more website traffic you get, the better your chances of landing a sale or client! Plus it creates brand awareness. Win-win-win. And when your traffic is organic traffic, you’re really winning. Why, we hear you ask? When a user is visiting your website from organic search engine results, it means that they have a very specific intent and they’re considering you, yes you, to solve their problem or answer their question. We’re going to dive into how you can create your own organic traffic, not to be confused with direct traffic, which is when your URL is typed in directly into the search bar.
Remember when we said this is how to market your business online, for free? Just like JLo’s love, organic search results don’t cost a thing! Here’s how to optimize your website to rank, increase traffic and lead flow:
.
1. Keyword Research.
The best way to achieve search findability and ranking is by aligning your high-quality content with high-quality relevant keywords.
A keyword is a search term that optimizes your website in the hopes of ranking at the top of search results when people search for that specific keyword. There are many tools that you can use to find relevant keywords, and tools like Ubersuggest and Google Keyword planner even show you how high the keyword ranks, how many clicks that specific keyword gets in your country, and the CPC. When using keywords, also add long-tail keywords in addition to your keywords, known as short-tail keywords. Shorter keywords (jerseys) are more saturated, making ranking more challenging, so we suggest using long-tail keywords, which is basically just a longer phrase (wool jerseys for women).
2. Improve your SEO.
Good SEO will make your good content great.
No doubt you’ve heard the cliché (but inspiring) marketing quotes that tell you that content is king, but how can your content reign supreme when no one has seen it, and for that matter, any of your work or offering?
The answer is Search Engine Optimization, widely known as SEO. Read our detailed blog post on how to optimize your SEO strategy in 5 steps by enhancing the following aspects of your website:
- Ensure you use the correct website titles and tags
- Optimize your images
- Relevant Keywords (also part of this list – this must be important ;) )
- Applying Backlinks
3. Get Social (Media).
If you’re not speaking to your audience and engaging on social media, you’re missing out on a massive opportunity.
Social media marketing, SMM, is a form of internet marketing that involves creating and sharing content in more of a social and relaxed setting rather than a hard-selling environment. It might feel like you’re just posting stories, captions, text, and videos, but this drives audience engagement and it’s a great way to start a following while building trust, which is one of the most important factors when it comes to a successful e-commerce business. Social media marketing has become an essential part of (free) online marketing, whether it’s b2b or to express your brand’s personality to your niche audience, it’s worth investing the necessary time.
“Social media marketing is the use of social media platforms to connect with your audience to build your brand, increase sales, and drive website traffic. This involves publishing great content on your social media profiles, listening to and engaging your followers, analyzing your results, and running social media advertisements.”
